The Beychella Experience

Coachella 2019 line-up just dropped! The tickets go on sale at 11am tomorrow . Before you make that plunge, let me tell you all about my Chella’ experience… hope these jewels help! May the odds be with you.

I've always dreamed about attending a huge festival like Coachella. The big stages, the anticipation of the line up and the looks were all so enticing. As I grew older, I would see photos of lavish festival looks and would play out my future experience in my head.

There were rumors swirling around about Beyoncé headlining Coachella 2017. The tickets are released, I'm waiting in que and just that quickly they're sold out. I shed a couple of tears and contemplated buying via third party vendor. I waited it out and life happened, well she gave birth to the cutest twins ever ! She postponed her appearance and all was good in the world. Enough about that.. fast forward I got the golden ticket for Coachella 2018!

I'm a concert enthusiast , I've been to a couple of festivals. Let me tell you this, the key to surviving Coachella or any festival is being prepared. I can't stress this enough, watch youtube videos, read forums on Reddit and join group chats. All of those things were lifesavers and more. Months ahead of the festival I made packing list and ordered things accordingly. My looks were simple, light and festival vibes!

I was so relieved upon my arrival to Palm Springs.....I was almost to the promise land! The liquor and snack run was complete and all was good. My roommates for the weekend chose a place located in Indio, which was 6 minutes away from the festival grounds. That was the best decision ever. We arrived to dinner cooked by our housemate Briana, she cooked all the tasty pre and post Chella' nights!

Day 1 arrived and went quickly. I didn't do enough stretching for all the ground walking and running. I think we were all too busy trying to get our vices together for the fest. Time to hit the fest, we arrived in a big group and everyone split up based on must see artists. We roamed the grounds, hung out at the Heineken house to charge our phones and etc. By the time we were done mingling it was time to see Kali Uchis. Right after her performance I was able to see a little bit of The Neighbourhood's performance. I scouted closer seats for Daniel Caeser, wow I was in love with his set! I didn't want it to end. A couple of other performance I enjoyed day one was Kygo, Vince Staples and of course The Weeknd. I was wiped out! No time or energy for parties, kudos to anyone who had the time to attend .

Day 2 was all about BEYONCE! I mean, of course there were the acts to see but Beyonce was the MAIN attraction. I couldn't let my Day 1 feet blisters ruin my experience. I doubled up on the gel pads and kept it rolling. Saturday set list and favorites was very strategic. Some stand out acts for Day 2 were FlatBush Zombies, Chromeo and Tyler the Creator.

I didn't move from my spot after Tyler's set ended. In order to get the full Beychella experience I needed to have a bomb view. I waited and waited and then the moment came, this magical being floated on stage. There was a full band playing in the background. It took me back to every undergrad football game, every homecoming. I had chills as Beyonce strutted closer to the stage. Beyonce gave us a show of a lifetime. The choreography and wardrobe changes were on point. As if all of that wasn't enough, Kelly and Michelle joined the stage. I lost my mind. I could go on and on about her performance . I didn't want my Beychella experience to end. My body was tired but I was still on a high from Day 2.

The finally day arrived and I was determined to make it to one Chella' party. We made our way to Palm Springs for The Do Over by Adidas. Most of the party goers followed along as we rushed to the grounds. Sunday was a tough day of acts, there was No Name, Cardi B, Kamasi Washington, Miguel and Migos. I missed Cardi and Kamasi Washington, I'm still beating myself up for it ! All these acts were pretty much back to back, stage to stage. I skipped out on the final act Eminem to roam the festival grounds.

As I walked around , I reflected on the whole weekend. I roamed around to different attractions and people watched. Everyone was cheerful and having the best time of their lives. The photo ops, people dancing by themselves or among groups, all the musical acts. Those are the moments I loved the most. I had the time of my life with my best friend and random strangers. I conquered Bey, I mean Coachella 2018 and I would do it all over again.  Are you attending Coachella 2019? Let me know in the comments below !
